Distance Education Program
Steps to enroll in an online course
Step 1: Learn about Porterville College’s online courses at: http://www.portervillecollege.edu/online_courses/
Step 2: Take the assessment test if you are a new student and plan to take an English or math class. Refer to the assessment information online or call (559) 791-2329 for assessment information.
Step 3: We strongly recommend that you meet with a counselor to assess your goals and select appropriate courses. Call (559) 791-2329 to make an appointment with a counselor or advisor.
Step 4: Register for your class using Web registration or come to the campus for walk-in registration. For instructions on using Web registration, go to http://www.portervillecollege.edu and click on “5 easy steps to becoming a PC student”.
Step 5: While registering for your class, verify the accuracy of your email address and correct if necessary. Your instructor will not be able to contact you if your email address is missing or incorrect, and you may be dropped from the class.
Step 6: Look for an email from your instructor that should arrive by the first day of your class. This email will contain information on when and how to access your online class. NOTE: The email may be flagged as spam so also check your spam folders. Contact your instructor if you do not receive this email by the first day of your class.
Types of courses offered:
Online: These courses require no on-campus attendance.
Hybrid-Online: These courses blend online instruction with some traditional on-campus instruction. Dates and times of on-campus meetings will be noted in the schedule.
IMPORTANT: Students taking online and hybrid-online courses must verify their email address at registration. During the first day of class students must check their email for further instructions from the instructor. Sometimes the instructor emails are flagged as spam so students need to check spam or bulk folders.
