The Program
Welcome to the world of the administrative assistant, the executive secretary, the records technician, the office receptionist, or whatever office position you wish to obtain in the world of commerce, locally or globally.
If you

- are friendly, outgoing, patient, and enjoy sharing knowledge with others
- enjoy multi-tasking
You can prepare for any of these positions and a future career in the business world by taking classes at Porterville College for either a certificate or an Associate degree.
You can decide to concentrate on just the business skills and knowledge you need for a certificate in Office Technology in a two- to three-semester program.
The Certificate
Office Technology Certificate Program
Designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the field of office/administrative support, including emphasis on computer applications, in the business environment. Twenty-four (24) credits in the certificate are required. Eighteen credits in residency are required for the awarding of the degree.

Group II (six credits are required from this group)
- BSAD P101 Introduction to Business 3 credits
BSAD P140 The Legal Environment of Business 4-3 credits
INFS P020 Introduction to Spreadsheet 2 credits
OFFT P030 Human Relations in Business 2 credits
OFFT P101A and P101B** Beginning Keyboarding 2 credits
* New class replacing BSAD P135, OFFT P020, and BUS P012.
** Demonstrated proficiency by high school or equivalent institution grade of “B” or higher will be accepted in lieu of completing these classes.
*** May be substituted with Accounting P110 (only 3 credits)
