LEARNING COHORTS:
Porterville College is offering six (6) linked courses or cohorts this Spring 2010 academic term. On our campus, cohorts are a series of 2 or more classes that are linked. Faculty who instruct these linked courses work and plan together to provide integrated or shared assignments for students. The same students are enrolled in both classes. When students enroll in one course they also enroll in the course linked with it.
- Students enrolled in these cohorts are able to complete six credit hours.
- They are afforded extra assistance by the instructors because they work together to provide lessons that integrate two or more disciplines.
- These cohorts also have the benefit of study groups and Supplemental Instruction to prepare for class tests and exams.
- Students participating in these cohorts are involved in creating communities with their instructors and fellow students. This provides even more support that lends to academic success.
