At a recent meeting of the Commission on Athletics, Dr. Rosa Carlson, President of Porterville College, was nominated for an appointment to the COA Board of Directors. She will replace Ned Doffoney, who has left Fresno City College.

C. Logan McKechnie, Commissioner of the Central Valley Conference, sent congratulations to Carlson, who will represent the CVC on the state COA board for the next three years. According to McKechnie, the board is responsible for the conduct of all junior college sports in the state of California. PC President Rosa Carlson

“We are honored that Dr. Carlson accepted the nomination for this important position. She has shown outstanding leadership in her positions at two colleges and her experience will be a valued addition to the board,” McKechnie said. “She is dedicated to the observation of the rules for athletic programs and is determined to uphold the standards set by the COA board. We look forward to working with her during her term on the board.”

“The nomination to this board is a surprise to me but I accept it with the knowledge that it is an important task that the board has in working within the statewide community college athletic system of over 100 colleges. I will do my best to honestly and thoroughly work with the board to make sure our college athletics bring pride to their communities and the state. Representing our CVC will be a pleasure,” Carlson said.
