Gervasi Gets Surprise
Math Professor Jeff Gervasi had no idea his loyal class of budding mathematicians had filled the campus walkway circle with dozens of his favorite math sayings, equations, and formulas.
Upon seeing “Math Rules!” in chalk, he went completely DaVinci.
Former President Honored
Past PC President Orlin Shires and his wife Louise were formally inducted into the City of Porterville's Wall of Fame at the Porterville Heritage Center in a grand ceremony. Orlin had served 23 years as PC President, was a member of several civic clubs, YMCA, veterans groups and supporter of numerous community events. Louise expressed herself through work as a 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, elementary school teacher and active Daughter's of the American Revolution member. Her support of Orlin's work was widely praised.
Scholarships Awarded
The 43rd annual Academic Scholarship and Awards Ceremony at the Porterville College gym attracted hundreds of family members eager to witness their student being recognized and rewarded for pursuing their education with excellence. Over $116,000 dollars in scholarships and awards were presented to 88 very thankful students.

Free E-Waste recycling event at Porterville College
Recycle your e-waste at Porterville College, 100 E. College Avenue (enter via gated entrance on Plano St) on June 29-30, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Items accepted include:
Television sets, computers, cell phones , household appliances, flat screens, monitors, Wii/Nintendo/Sony , medical equipment, VCR’s/dvd’s, laptops, camera equip, desktop printers, cable boxes, keyboards, car batteries, industrial copiers, and medical equipment.
All proceeds will benefit Porterville College.
Summer 2012 Pell Grant
Pell Grant eligibility for Summer 2012 will be determined by using any remaining Pell Grant eligibility from the 2011-12 award year. For example, if you were paid for full-time enrollment Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 you received 100% of your 2011-12 Pell Grant award and you have no remaining eligibility for Summer Pell Grant payment.
Students who have remaining eligibility for 2011-12 Pell Grant must come to our office or call at 559-791-2301 for information. Summer payment is contingent upon enrollment in eligible units and maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Porterville College is committed to provide students an opportunity to pursue their educational goals. The Financial Aid Office offers assistance to students who need funds to attain that goal.
